GUIDANCE FOR NEW RESEARCHERS
SUMMARISING YOUR RESEARCH
Drawing conclusions from your research
The conclusion or summary to your research should be a robust but relatively succinct section (two to four paragraphs) where you tie all the previous research findings together, present the implications of your research to your disciplinary field, and identify areas that may be improved or require further research in future. It is vital to state clearly the significance of your research and how your research aim and objectives have been achieved, summarising the knowledge that you have gained through your research and what this actually means.
In practice-based research, where a physical artefact may represent the conclusion of your research, it is important include images of this that are explicitly discussed in the text, highlighting precisely what has been learned through your creative practice.
