Call for Contributions: Responsible Fashion Series
Call for Contributions: Responsible Fashion Series - Innovation, Bio-design, and Technology in the American Southwest. The deadline for submission is December 31, 2024.
The Responsible Fashion Series (RFS) is seeking submissions for its upcoming event, which will explore sustainability, biodesign, and technology in the fashion industry across the American Southwest from October 27 to November 7, 2025. This series will unfold in three distinct locations—San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Phoenix—each offering unique perspectives on responsible fashion, environmental ethics, and innovation.
The event begins in San Francisco, featuring the latest in biodegradable materials and biofabrication with visits to companies like Levi Strauss and UNSPUN. Los Angeles will host discussions on California’s Responsible Textile Recovery Act and eco-friendly textile innovations, set against the cultural celebrations of Dias de los Muertos. The final segment in Phoenix, Arizona, will engage participants with Indigenous craft traditions alongside developments in sustainable e-textiles and smart clothing.
The RFS invites proposals for exhibitions, workshops, paper presentations, and panel discussions on topics such as sustainable materials, biotechnology, wearable technology, circular economy models, and ethical practices. Contributions that bridge traditional practices with contemporary advancements, fostering a responsible future in fashion, are highly encouraged.
Proposals should be 300 words and specify the preferred location(s). The deadline for submission is December 31, 2024, and can be sent to mail@responsible-fashion-series.com. Registration is required, with attendees responsible for travel, accommodation, and optional excursion costs. This event offers a rare opportunity to examine how technology and tradition shape a sustainable future in the fashion industry.
